write place, write time.

During a television writing course I’ve been taking, Geoffrey Atherden sagely told us,

‘In the TV industry, luck plays a big part in it. Being in the right place at the right time’.

As class was finishing up, my classmate who sat beside me asked me to finally tell him my story idea. I told him the previous week that I struggled giving the elevator pitch without rambling.

But this week I was prepared and told him my idea as briefly as I could. He was impressed and asked if I could bring in a two page outline of the idea. I laughed and said, ‘Are you sure you want to read it??’

He replied: ‘Well I guess so, seeing that I’m a producer and all’.

Well, whaddya know? I couldn’t have made that moment more Hollywood if I tried.
